Apple may be developing a 15-inch MacBook Air | Apple

The upcoming MacBook Air redesign by Apple has been widely reported. However, new information suggests that it could come in two sizes.

Display Supply Chain Consultants' most recent quarterly report (via 9to5Mac, AppleInsider) states that Apple is developing a 15-inch MacBook Air to go alongside its 13-inch model. This may allow it to have a slightly larger screen.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, confirmed that the report was accurate and said that mass production would begin in the fourth quarter 2023.Kuo claims that the new laptop will use the same 30W adapter, as the MacBook Air. This would make it much more efficient than the MacBook Pro's in terms of power consumption.Kuo also notes that the new laptop "mightn't be called MacBook Air". This is more a matter of branding than anything and it is possible that this is speculation about a product that is so far from being produced.

Bloomberg reported sometime last year that Apple considered making a 15 inch MacBook Air in conjunction with the 13-inch model, but decided to not produce it.

Apple hasn’t offered laptops with larger screens at lower prices for a while. To find a non-Pro Apple laptop that has a screen larger than 13 inches, you'd need to go back to the days when the PowerBook G4 or iBook G4 were discontinued. The iBook G4 also had a 14 inch version. Users who need more screen real estate and don't require the same performance as a 16-inch MacBook Pro could choose a MacBook Air-class device with a larger screen.
